Gordon Elwood Sr. Dodson

Gordon Elwood Dodson Sr., 83, of Maugansville, died Friday, June 17, 2011, at Meritus Medical Center in Hagerstown.
Born Jan. 20, 1928, in Hagerstown, he was the son of the late Robert Lee and Lola (Gelwicks) Dodson.
He was a veteran of the U.S. Army Air Force.
Gordon had worked in the custodial department at the Hagerstown YMCA.
He is survived by his loving wife of 59 years, Vernedis D. (Nally) Dodson; a daughter, Delsie May Hartnett and husband, Philip, of Clear Spring; two sons, Robert Elwood Dodson and wife, Margo, of Joliet, Ill., and Gordon Elwood Dodson Jr., who is stationed in Germany with the military and his wife, Jennifer; and four grandchildren, Jennifer Ann (Hartnett) Plevinski, Andrea Denise Dodson-Cassem, Phillip Hoover Dodson and Leanna Hope Dodson.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a sister, Betty; a half sister, Rosie; a half brother, Paul Shepherd; and a grandson, Daniel Joseph Hartnett.
A funeral service will be held privately at the convenience of the family. Interment will take place in Rest Haven Cemetery.
