Grover Cleveland "Clevie" Smith, Jr., 92, of Hagerstown, passed away, Friday, August 23, 2013, at Meritus Medical Center, Hagerstown.
Born April 7, 1921 in Hagerstown he was the son of the late Grover Cleveland, Sr. and Clara May (Alexander) Smith.
Clevie was a US Army veteran of WW II serving in Europe with the 3rd Division 7th Infantry.
He retired as a refinisher with the Brandt Cabinet works in Hagerstown.
He is survived by his loving wife of 62 years Helen Madeline (Breeden) Smith; four daughters, Deborah Helen Nichols, Diana Lynn Billmyer, Sandra Jean Davies and Vickie Kay Dorsey, all of Hagerstown; 10 grandchildren; 35 great grandchildren and 5 great-great grandchildren; several nieces and nephews including Harvey Smith, Jr.
In addition to his parents he also was preceded in death by twelve siblings.
Funeral services will be conducted on Wednesday, August 28, 2013 at 2:00 P.M. at Rest Haven Funeral Chapel, 1601 Pennsylvania Ave., Hagerstown with Pastor Stewart Torres officiating.
Interment will follow in Rest Haven Cemetery where military honors will be accorded.
Friends will be received at the funeral home on Wednesday one hour prior to services.
