Harold Eugene "Johnny" Harne, Sr.

Harold Eugene "Johnny" Harne, Sr., 68, of Hagerstown, died on Friday, March 29, 2013 at Western Maryland Hospital Center.

Born April 24, 1944, in Hagerstown, he was the son of the late John Floyd Harne and Catherine (Miller) Craft of Idaho, and was raised by the late Ed and Lizzie Brinkley.

He worked as a machine operator at Maryland Made Kitchens for over 30 years. Johnny also worked for Larstan and J&L Concessions, where he ran concessions at the Hagerstown City Park for 25 years. He also ran concessions at PenMar Park, Potterfiled Pool, Marty Snook Pool, and Greenbrier State Park Camp Store.

Johnny was a former member of the Hagerstown Owl's Club as well as the Williams Grove Historical Steam Engine Association, Inc. in Pennsylvania.

He was a 'jack of all trades'. He loved to work with wood and enjoyed trying to find a bargain at flea markets and having yard sales. He enjoyed being outside and doing yard work. His family was his life.

Johnny is survived by his loving wife of 10 years, Linda M. (Smith) Brown Harne; his first wife of 36 years, Donna Harne of Hagerstown; nine children, Penny Thomas and husband Randy of Williamsport, Harold Harne, Jr., Edward Harne and wife Tammi, Brandi Naugle and husband Mark, Scott Brown and wife Crystal, David Harne and wife Kayla, Gina Hann, Sue Showe and husband Eric, and Jamie Ashkettle all of Hagerstown; 28 grandchildren; 20 great-grandchildren; three sisters, Evelyn Carman of Chambersburg, Norma Jean Sattington of Hagerstown, Beverly Jordan and husband Ted of Idaho; a brother, Gary L. Craft of Hagerstown; and numerous nieces and nephews.

Johnny was preceded in death by Ed and Lizzie Brinkley, whom raised him; a daughter, Virginia Brown; a great-granddaughter, Kamryn Lee Jones; and a sister-in-law, Nellie Craft.

A funeral service will be conducted at 11:00am on Tuesday, April 2, 2013 at Rest Haven Funeral Chapel, 1601 Pennsylvania Ave., Hagerstown with the Chaplain Richard Bower officiating. Interment will follow in Rest Haven Cemetery.

Friends will be received on Monday from 5-7pm at the funeral home.
