Harris Eugene Miller

Harris Eugene Miller, 80, of Hagerstown, passed away Wednesday, November 13, 2019 at Doey's House.
Affectionately known as Poochy, Harris was born August 22, 1939, in Hagerstown. He was the son of the late Wilbur E. and Mamie G. (Cain) Miller Winters.
Harris graduated from South Hagerstown High School in 1958.
He worked at Western Maryland Railroad, Mack Trucks, and East Alcoa Alum Co., retiring after 29 years of service.
He was an avid bowler with his late wife Fran for many years and also enjoyed hunting trips with brother-in-law's Ron, Sam and John. After Fran's death, Harris developed a passion for the game of golf. He played many rounds with Don, Ryan, Trevor, Red, Craig, Stanley, Terry and Buzz. Even scoring a hole-in-one.
Harris and Joyce enjoyed many happy years together, going on many adventures or just quietly sitting on Joyce's deck on Orchard Ridge. He also enjoyed playing cards with Joyce, Denver and Diane and Stanley and Valena. He loved sitting by the pool watching the Grannies swim, and feeding the birds and squirrels
Harris is survived by his loving companion, Joyce Fields; daughter, Kriste Grabill and husband Don; step-son, Douglas Fowler and wife Jane; son, Jeff Miller and family; four grandchildren, Ryan Grabill and wife Katie, Daniel Fowler and wife Jill, Staci Hullinger and husband Trevor, Jamie Brown and husband E.J.; eight great-grandchildren, Alyssa and Ellory Fowler, Trey and Brenna Hullinger, Ainsley, Harper, and Hudson Grabill, and Gavin Brown; two brothers, Stanley Miller and wife Valena, and Terry Miller; and nieces and nephews.
In addition to his parents, he was also preceded in death by his loving wife of 30 years, Fran; his half sister, Doris Hawbaker; and stepfather, Glenn Winters.
A funeral service will be conducted at 1:00pm on Monday, November 18, 2019 at Rest Haven Funeral Home, 1601 Pennsylvania Ave., Hagerstown, with Pastor Jeff Hawbaker officiating. Burial will follow in Rest Haven Cemetery.
The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service and again afterwards for a food reception at the funeral home.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made in Harris's name to Orchard Ridge Church of God, 14128 Orchard Ridge Road, Hancock, MD 21750.
