Hazel Arlene Bostwick

May 15, 1933 — August 13, 2018

Hazel Arlene Bostwick, 85,mother, nana, collector or knick-knacks, holder of grudges, and forever vertically challenged, left this earth to reunite with her beloved husband, Robert on August 13, 2018.

A master orator and skilled motivator using what she termed "nagging", Hazel raised a slew of children and grandkids whom she noted were all fortunate enough to have inherited height from some "lucky schmuck". Hazel was a devoted homemaker who would not hesitate to make you one of her gourmet meals like over-boiled hotdogs or TV dinner a' la microwave. Hazel loved QVC, bragging about her grandkids, gossiping with friends, adopting EVERY stray cat in the neighborhood, and leaving Christmas decor up year-round so that she wouldn't have to get on the step stool more than once. Her family will forever miss attempting to locate her in stores with tall racks, "butt dials" from her "new fangled" phone, and trying to carry on any discussion with her while "Family Feud" blared in the background. It is not lost on the family that her passing came shortly after Hazel's repeated requests to clean the attic. Hazel has respectfully asked for no viewing as she didn't want the general public to know she had "friggin' wrinkles".

Hazel was the daughter of the late Delmont L. and Eunice A. (Hayes) Nelson. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Robert H. Bostwick; toddler son, George "Skipper" Harrington; daughter, Deborah (Jacob) Harrington; and brother, Llewellyn Nelson.

She is survived by a son, Keith Bostwick; daughter, Diane (Bostwick) Fiddler; brother. Jack Nelson; five grandchildren, Jennifer (Jacob) Lewis, Gary Fiddler Jr., Melissa, Samantha, and Tyler Bostwick; thirteen great grandchildren, and numerous other relatives all of whom will remember her feisty temperment and kind heart.

The family would like to thank the wonderful and caring staff of Doey's House as they made her final moments in life peaceful and filled with dignity. In lieu of flowers, the family asks that donations be made to Doey's House c/o Hospice of Washington County in her name. Hazel will be laid to rest in a private ceremony at Greenlawn Cemetery.
