Howard Lewis Fox

Howard Lewis Fox, 88, of Matthews, N.C., formerly of Hagerstown, died Friday, Dec. 21, 2012, at Weddington Park Assisted Living.

Born June 15, 1924, in Donora, Pa., he was the son of the late William Clayton and Jessie May (Martin) Fox.

Howard loved the Lord with all his heart, witnessing of the Lordâ??s grace and mercy to all he met. He taught Sunday school at Calvary Temple, Williamsport, for many years.

Howard was a proud World War II veteran, serving in the European theater operations in Germany and France with the U.S. Army. He was given the opportunity to go to Washington, D.C., with the Flight of Honor in September 2011.

He worked for 31 years with Fairchild Hiller, retiring in 1986.

Besides his parents, Howard was preceded in death by his wife, Audrey Ellen (McManus) Fox; a son, David Lee Fox; a grandson, David Lee Fox; and his brother, William Ralph Fox.

Left to cherish his memory are his son, Lloyd Lewis Fox and wife, Joyce (Weaver) Fox, of Monroe, N.C.; a granddaughter, Mary Elizabeth Garceau and husband, Bryan Garceau, of North Carolina; and granddaughter-in-law, Michele Wilbanks of Florida.

A funeral service will be conducted at 1 p.m. Thursday, Dec. 27, 2012, at Rest Haven Funeral Chapel, 1601 Pennsylvania Ave., Hagerstown, with the Rev. Robert Robinson officiating. Interment will follow in Rest Haven Cemetery.

Friends will be received one hour prior to the service at the funeral home
