Huber Daniel Bock, Jr.

Huber Daniel Bock, Jr., 93 of Preston Road in Hagerstown, passed away on Saturday, December 19, 2015 at his home.

Born December 27, 1921 in Waynesboro, he was the son of the late Huber D. Bock, Sr. and Armatha (Cashman) Bock.

Huber was a 1940 graduate of Waynesboro Senior High School. He also was a student at Hagerstown Junior College and Penn State Mont Alto Campus, where he was a former instructor of Engineering Drafting.

He was a veteran of WWII, serving in the U.S. Navy aboard U.S.S. LST-171, which participated in 14 invasions in the South Pacific. The ship was awarded 7 battle stars.

Huber worked at Fairchild Aircraft as a layout draftsman and a technical illustrator; Victor Products as a design draftsman; LTV in Texas as a technical illustrator; and at one time was a drafting supervisor at Ward Leonard Electric Company. He retired from Grove Worldwide as a product safety and reliability engineer in 1987. Huber was also an industry advisor to the Washington County Vo-Tech Center.

He was a member of the Hagerstown Presbyterian Church, B.P.O. Elks Lodge #378, American Legion Post No. 42, Hagerstown Aviation Museum, Mid-Atlantic Air Museum, United States L.S.T. Assoc, Hagerstown Civil War Round Table, and Grove Worldwide Retirement Club. He was a former member of Grove Worldwide Management Club, U.S. Naval Institute of Annapolis and a former ruling elder at St. Andrews Presbyterian Church.

He is survived by his loving wife, Helen C. Bock; his daughter, Donna L. Fairchild; and his grandson, Phillip Colby Shives.

In addition to his parents, he was also preceded in death by three sisters, Beatrice Bock Grove, Elizabeth Jeffers, Roberta Bock Cashman; and two brothers, C. Milton Bock, and Joseph L. Bock. He was the last of his immediate family.

Inurnment will be private in Rest Haven Cemetery.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made in Huber's name to Presbyterian Church of Hagerstown, 20 S Prospect St., Hagerstown, MD 21740.
