Irene Eleanor Hanson

Hagerstown, MD Irene Eleanor Hanson, 92, of Hagerstown, passed away, Wednesday, April 2, 2014 at her home surrounded by her loving family.
Born May 30, 1921 in Oshawa Ontario, Canada, she was the daughter of the late Nels and Cora (Engeberg) Nelsen. In addition to her parents she also was preceded in death by her husband, James Hilmer Hanson in 2010 and a brother, Loren Nelson.
Mrs. Hanson was a member of the Willow Brook Seventh Day Adventist Church, Boonsboro.
She retired as chief payroll clerk from Review and Herald Publishing after 35 years of service.
She is survived by two sons, Stephen J. Hanson and wife, Gail of Hagerstown and Mark A. Hanson and wife Cindy of Arcadia, Fla.; one sister, Evelyn Herwick of Hagerstown; five grandchildren, Jennifer Nichols and husband Andrew, Stephanie Poole and husband, Len, Christopher, James and Paul Hanson; four great grandchildren, Olivia and Colton Nichols, Abigail and Claire Poole; sister in law, Jane Nelson of Longwood, Fla. and nephews, Skip and Denny Nelson
Funeral services will be conducted on Friday, April 4, 2014 at 1:00 P.M. at Rest Haven Funeral Chapel, 1601 Pennsylvania Ave., Hagerstown with Pastor Tim Crosby officiating.
Interment will follow in Rest Haven Cemetery.
Friends will be received at the funeral home on Friday two hours prior to services, from 11 A.M. until 1:00 P.M.
In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be made in Irene's name to, Loma Linda Broadcasting, Loma Linda, California.
