Jayantitlal Morar "Jay" Solanki
Jayantitlal Morar "Jay" Solanki, 81, of Hagerstown, passed away on Tuesday, December 17, 2013 at his home while surrounded by his family.
Born September 12, 1932 in India, he was the son of the late Morarbhai Solanki and Motiben Solanki.
Jay was a sales person and accountant in Uganda. He was also a tailor by trade. He was a world traveler going to such places as Tanzania, Uganda, and Austria before coming to the United States.
Jayantitlal is survived by his loving wife of 59 years, Maniben (Chauhan) Solanki; three daughters, Sumitra Lehman and husband John of Hagerstown, Gita Umeria of Sharpsburg, Mina Messner and husband Danny of Hagerstown; two sons, Manoj-Kumar Solanki and wife Keira of Hagerstown, Vijay-Kumar Solanki of Hagerstown; seven grandchildren, Devinia Thompson, Staci Lehman, Nicole Messner, Monic Messner, Jeremy Kline, Joshua Solanki, Brenda "Benna" Rhinehart; a brother, Dalu Solanki and wife Tara of England; and a sister, Padma Parmar of Belgium.
In addition to his parents he was also preceded in death by a sister, Santaben.
Friends will be received on Friday, December 20, 2013 from 6-8pm at Rest Haven Funeral Chapel, 1601 Pennsylvania Ave., Hagerstown. Inurnment will be private and held at the convenience of the family.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Hospice of Washington County, 747 Northern Ave., Hagerstown, MD 21742.
