Jean Lorraine Cook

Jean Lorraine Cook, 92, passed at her home on Wednesday, October 27, 2021.

Born February 7, 1929, in Orrstown, PA, she was the daughter of Rev Frank G. and Mary Alice Mentzer.

She assisted in her husband's construction business as office manager and spent most of life as an antiques dealer. Graduating from Hagerstown High in 1947.

She was a charter member of Marantha Brethren Church where she spent many years working with the youth quiz teams.

Besides her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, John N. Cook in 2010, who she married in 1948. Sisters, Alice Elliott, Lelia Thomas, Frances Diehl, Evelyn Hammond, and Dorry McAllister. Brothers, Daniel Mentzer, Frank Mentzer, Paul Mentzer, and Jimmy Mentzer.

Jean is survived by her daughter, Barbara Miller (John) of Falling Waters, W.V.; son, Barry Cook of Santa Barbara, CA.; grandson, Jason Murphy (Christine Lepine) of Shepherdstown, W.V., John (Tali) Cook (Janine) of Santa Barbara; great grandson Elijah Murphy and great granddaughter Everjoy Cook; one sister, Shirley Ryland; sister-in-law Audrey Mentzer and brother-in-law Lloyd McAllister, and many nieces and nephews.

Interment with family at 1:30 PM on Thursday, November 4, 2021, located at Rest Haven Cemetery, 1601 Pennsylvania Ave., Hagerstown, MD 21742.

Pastor John Miller will lead a Celebration of Life that will be held at 3:00 P.M. on Thursday, November 4, 2021, at Marantha Brethren Church, 19835 Scott Hill Drive, Hagerstown, MD.

In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to Hospice of Washington County, 747 Northern Ave., Hagerstown, MD. 21742.
