John Charles Corder, Sr.
John Charles Corder, Sr., 83, of Hagerstown, passed away on Saturday, October 26, 2013 at his home.
Born January 13, 1930 in Hagerstown, he was the son of the late Charles Roy and Hattie Mae (McGowan) Corder.
He was a member of Calvary Grace Brethren Church. John enjoyed wood working.
He retired after 57 years working at Brandt Cabinet Works and Statton Furniture in Hagerstown.
John is survived by his loving wife of 66 years, Susan Camilla (Royer) Corder; a son, John Charles Corder, Jr., of Smithsburg; two daughters, Brenda Huntzberry and husband Harvey of Hagerstown, Susan Hollinger and husband Don of Greencastle; two sisters, Grace Huffer of Hagerstown, Madeline Spoonaire of Funkstown; three grandchildren; and five great-grandchildren.
In addition to his parents, he was also preceded in death by three brothers, Leon, Leroy, Howard; and three sisters, Martha, Helen, and Barbara.
A funeral service will be conducted at 1:00pm on Thursday, October 31, 2013 at Rest Haven Funeral Chapel, 1601 Pennsylvania Ave., Hagerstown, with the Rev. Jay Fritz officiating. Interment will follow in Rose Hill Cemetery.
Friends will be received one hour prior to the service at the funeral home.
Memorial contributions may be made in John's name to Hospice of Washington County, 747 Northern Ave., Hagerstown, Md 21742.
