John Paul Nichols, 50, of Waynesboro, died on Tuesday, August 26, 2014 at Meritus Medical Center.

Born February 28, 1964 in Hagerstown, he was the son of John Miner Nichols of Hagerstown and Verna Aileen (Eichelberger) Nichols of Waynesboro.

John was a 1983 graduate of St. Maria Goretti High School. He then attended HCC before graduating with honors in 1995 from Shenandoah University with a Bachelor of Fine Arts in Music Theater.

John liked to participate in theater performance and will be remembered as having a beautiful tenor singing voice.

He was a member of Crosswalk Church in Waynesboro.

John worked as a licensed freelance Cosmetologist.

In addition to his parents, John is survived by his maternal grandmother, Elizabeth "Betty" Eichelberger of Waynesboro; an uncle, Harold Nichols and wife Rachel of Mercersburg; three aunts, Linda Newlin and husband Vic of Hagerstown, Loretta Rhyne of Hagerstown, and Paula Phillips and husband Charles of Hendricks, WV; and numerous cousins.

A funeral service will be conducted at 3:00pm on Sunday, August 31, 2014 at Rest Haven Funeral Chapel, 1601 Pennsylvania Ave., Hagerstown, with the Rev. Dave Wolf officiating. Friends will be received one hour prior to the service at the funeral home.

Burial will be private and held at a later date in Rest Haven Cemetery.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to John's name to Rest Haven Funeral Chapel to defray funeral expenses or to the American Kidney Fund, 6110 Executive Blvd., Suite 1010, Rockville, MD 20852.
