Joseph Harmond Hodges, 88, of Hagerstown, passed away from this life on Friday, December 11, 2015, at his home, to be with the Lord at his home, surrounded by his guardian Angel and her sister.
Born August 15, 1927 in Norfolk County, Virginia, he was the son of the late Joseph and Ida Virginia (Sowers) Hodges. Joe also was preceded in death by his loving wife, Jennette (Thompson) Hodges in 2007 and one brother, William S. Hodges.
Joseph served in the United States Navy for 24 years, retiring in 1968.
He came to Hagerstown to be with a special lady, his wife Jennette.
In 1972 he went to work for the Hagerstown Housing Authority and retired in 1989.
He was a lifetime member of the AMVETS, Fleetwood Reserve Association and Christ Reformed Church.
Joe will be remembered for his friendship, the love that he had for his sailboats, lighthouses and of course his Pepsi Cola.
He is survived by one brother, Leif S. Hodges and wife, Linda of Chimney Hill Parkway, Virginia Beach, Va.
Funeral services will be conducted on Tuesday, December 15, 2015 at 7:00 P.M. at Rest Haven Funeral Chapel, 1601 Pennsylvania Ave., Hagerstown with Chaplain John D. Sampler officiating.
Friends will be received at the funeral home on Tuesday one hour prior to services.
Entombment will be held on Wednesday at 10:00 A.M. at Rest Haven Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be made in Joe's name to Hospice of Washington County, 747 Northern Ave., Hagerstown, MD 21742.
