Kenneth R. Escobar, 69, of Hagerstown, passed away on Thursday, August 28, 2014 surrounded by his family at his home.
Born January 31, 1945 in Hagerstown, he was the son of the late Raul Escobar, but was raised by his mother and father, the late Betty J. (Moyer) Bowers and Ned A. Bowers.
Kenneth retired as a buyer for Landis Tool Company after 42 years of service.
He enjoyed fishing as well as boating and spending time at the beach. He enjoyed the last nine years of retirement in Ft. Mill, SC. and Charleston, SC.
Kenneth is survived by his loving wife of 49 years, Rita D. (Forcini) Escobar; a son, Ned Escobar of Raleigh, NC.; a daughter, Carol Martell and husband Scott of Kissimmee, FL.; a daughter-in-law, Karla Pace of Wake Forrest, NC.; three grandsons, T.J. Miles, Luke Escobar, Keith Martell; a brother, Thomas J. Bowers; 5 nieces, 4 nephews, 4 great nieces, and 8 great nephews.
A funeral service will be conducted at 11:00am on Wednesday, September 3, 2014 at Rest Haven Funeral Chapel, 1601 Pennsylvania Ave., Hagerstown, with the Rev. Tim Fisher officiating. Interment will follow in Rest Haven Cemetery.
Friends will be received one hour prior to the service at the funeral home.
Memorial contributions may be made in Kenneth's name to the Salvation Army, 534 W. Franklin St., Hagerstown, MD 21742 or to St. Jude Children's Research Hospital, 501 St. Jude Place, Memphis, TN 38105.
