Kenneth E. "Kenny" DeVore, 75, of Hagerstown, died on Monday, November 28, 2016 at his home.
Born May 3, 1941 in Hagerstown, he was the son of the late Ralph E. DeVore, Sr. and Edith E. DeVore Sturtz. He was also preceded in death by his step father, Elvin S. Sturtz.
Kenny was a 1959 graduate of Hagerstown High School.
He worked at M. P. Moller Co. for five years. He retired from Mack Truck after 30 years of service. He enjoyed building floats with his brother, Ralph, for over 25 years. Their floats appeared at the local Mummer's Day Parade as well as in Washington, Philadelphia, and Winchester.
He was a member of Grace United Methodist Church in Hagerstown.
Kenny enjoyed the simple things in life. His favorite past time was talking to his grandchildren and neighbors on the comfort of his front porch. They enjoyed his company.
Kenny is survived by his loving wife of 54 years, Shirley (Munson) DeVore; a son, Kevin DeVore of North Carolina; a daughter, Karen Young and her husband, Thomas of West Virginia; a brother, Ralph DeVore, Jr. of Williamsport; six grandchildren, Paige DeVore, Jeremy DeVore, Aaron DeVore, Destinee Young, Lucas Young, and Jacob Young.
In keeping with Kenny's wishes, there will be no viewing. A graveside service will be held at 11:00am on Friday, December 2, 2016 in Rest Haven Cemetery, 1601 Pennsylvania Ave., Hagerstown, with his son-in-law, Rev. Thomas Young, Jr., officiating.
The family will receive friends one hour prior to the graveside service at Rest Haven Funeral Home, address above.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made in Kenny's name to Hospice of Washington County, 747 Northern Ave., Hagerstown, MD 21742 or to Grace United Methodist Church, 712 W Church St., Hagerstown, MD 21740.
