Lamont Bradley "Monty" Mumma, 66, of Hagerstown, Md., passed away Saturday, Oct. 20, 2012, at Martinsburg Veterans Affairs Medical Center.
Born Aug. 24, 1946, in Hagerstown, he was the son of Margie Arbutus (Jenkins) Mumma and the late Hubert Gher Mumma.
Monty was a 1965 graduate of North Hagerstown High School.
He was a veteran of the U.S. Army, serving from 1965 to 1968, where he served two tours in Vietnam; first in the 1st Air Calvary Brigade and then in the 82nd Airborne Division.
Monty retired in 2008 as a machine operator at General Binding Corporation.
He is survived by his loving wife, Barbara Morrow Reddig Mumma, who would have celebrated 45 years of marriage together on Nov. 3. He is also survived by two sons, Christopher Mumma, and Jon Mumma and wife, Jennifer; a daughter, Amy Haught and husband, Kyle; four grandchildren, Jared, Jessica, Benjamin and Zoe; a brother, Daniel Mumma; and several other extended family members.
A memorial service will be conducted at 11 a.m. Friday, Oct. 26, 2012, at St. Paul's Lutheran Church, 24 E. Baltimore St., Funkstown, Md., with the Rev. Michael Louia officiating. Friends will be received one hour prior to the service at the church.
Inurnment will be private and held at the convenience of the family.
