Laura (Garber) Yoder, 84, of Hagerstown, passed away on Wednesday, December 31, 2014 at her home surrounded by her loving family.

Born September 22, 1930 in Saltcreek Township, Ohio, she was the daughter of the late Christian Amos and Elizabeth (Miller) Garber. She was the oldest of 12 children of which five preceded her in death.

Laura was primarily a homemaker but she also retired in 1987 from Yoders, Inc. after working for 10 years in the meat preparations dept. She also previously worked for Devon Industries, a produce farm near Oakland, MD.

She resided in Grantsville, MD for 43 years where she was a faithful member of Mountain View Christian Fellowship. In 2001 she moved to the Hagerstown community to be near her children and grandchildren and became a member of Salem Ridge Community Church in Greencastle, PA. Laura's Christian faith was very important in her life and she enjoyed cooking, camping, quilting, handwork, and embroidery. She volunteered at World Treasures in Hagerstown.

Laura is survived by her loving husband of 56 years, Elam Glenn Yoder; four children, Delores Eileen Swartzentruber and husband Stuart Earl of Ontario, Canada, Mervin Eugene Yoder and wife Karen Marie of Smithsburg, Leon Dale Yoder and wife Robin Kay of Sharpsburg, Donna Jane Starliper and husband Jay Eugene of Sharpsburg; six siblings, Ura Garber of Deer Lodge, TN., Mary Garber of Sarasota, FL., Eli Garber of Avoca, NY., Nelson Garber of Salem, IN., Clara Miller of Oakland, MD., Lovina Miller of Miami, OK.; 10 grandchildren, Jeremy David Swartzentruber, Danae Rochelle Beitzel, Renita Beth Swartzentruber, Melanie Joy Swartzentruber, Joshua Alexander Yoder, Hannah Marie Yoder, Lexi Leigh Yoder, Spencer Dale Yoder, Brandon Jay Starliper, Bethany Ann Starliper; two step-grandchildren, Travis Jay Starliper, Jaimee Lyn Starliper; and a great-grandchild, Judah Oliver Swartzentruber.

A funeral service will be conducted at 2:30pm on Saturday, January 3, 2015 at Salem Ridge Community Church, 441 Pensinger Rd., Greencastle, PA., with Pastor Brian Emory officiating. Burial will follow in Salem Ridge Cemetery.

Friends will be received on Friday, from 5-8pm at Rest Haven Funeral Chapel, 1601 Pennsylvania Ave., Hagerstown and again one hour and a half before the service at the church on Saturday.
