Leaman Eugene Petersen

August 8, 1938 — December 3, 2014

Leaman Eugene "Pete" Petersen, 76, of Greencastle, PA, went to his final resting place with the Lord on Wednesday, December 3, 2014.

Born on August 8, 1938, he was the son of the late Axel and Evelyn (Talhelm) Petersen. He was also preceded in death by his loving wife Shirley L. Petersen and three brothers, Robert, David and Kenneth.

He retired from F.O. Day as a paving operator and was most recently employed part time as a stocker at Weis Market at Shank Farm.

He enjoyed spending time with his family (especially his grandchildren), horses, and was an avid Pittsburgh Steelers fan. He was a trainer at Charles Town Race Track.

Leaman is survived by three sons, Jack Petersen of Lillington, NC, Leaman "Page" Petersen of Greencastle, PA., Melvin Russell and wife Tammy of Smithsburg, MD; three grandchildren, Kayla Petersen, Austin Hurtman, Justyn Russell; and three sisters, Beverly Barthelow, Pamela Petersen, and Janet Horn.

A funeral service will be conducted at 1:00pm on Wednesday, December 10, 2014 at Rest Haven Funeral Chapel, 1601 Pennsylvania Ave., Hagerstown, with the Rev. Mark C. Mooney officiating. Interment will follow in Rest Haven Cemetery.

Friends and family will be received on Tuesday from 6-8pm at the funeral home.
