Lenora Norie Howard

Lenora Katherine "Norie" Howard, 89, of Hagerstown, died on Tuesday, December 27, 2016 at her home after a 6 month battle with cancer while under the care of Hospice.
Born August 20, 1927 in Hagerstown, she was the daughter of the late John and Mary (Stoner) Fiery.
She was also preceded in death by her husband of 44 years, Joseph F. Howard on December 17, 1993.
Norie was a 1945 graduate of Hagerstown High School.
She was formerly employed by C&P Telephone Co. and the Board of Education.
She was a lifelong member of Trinity Lutheran Church, where she taught S.S., worked in the clothing bank and helped out in the kitchen. She had also done volunteer work at W.M. Hospital in the snack bar.
Norie is survived by two sons, J. Michael Howard and wife Debbie of Cumming, GA., and J. Jeffrey Howard and partner Deb Toms of Clear Spring; two grandsons, Kevin Howard of Greenville, SC., and Tyler Howard of Cumming, GA.; and special friend of 21 years, Sam Hankey.
A funeral service will be held at 1:00pm on Saturday, December 31, 2016 at Rest Haven Funeral Home, 1601 Pennsylvania Ave., Hagerstown, with Rev. Mike Simane officiating. Burial will follow in Rest Haven Cemetery.
Friends will be received one hour prior to the service at the funeral home.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Doey's House c/o Hospice of Washington County, 747 Northern Ave., Hagerstown, MD 21742.
