Lewis Wayne Mumma

Lewis Wayne Mumma, 87, of Hagerstown, died at his home on Wednesday, Nov. 16, 2011, surrounded by his loving family.

Born Oct. 22, 1924, in Dutch Corner, Pa., he was the son of the late George Daniel and Goldie Blanche (Kelso) Mumma.

He was a veteran of the U.S. Navy during World War II.

He was a member of Evangel Baptist Church and Morris Frock American Legion Post 42 in Hagerstown.

Lewis was a truck driver for many years with Allied Van Lines and retired from Hesco Inc. of Hagerstown.

He is survived by his loving wife of 66 years, Dorine Lois Mumma; a daughter, Linda J. Barnhart and husband, Sam, of Clear Spring; two sons, Ronald W. Mumma of Woodbridge, Va., and Donald B. Mumma and wife, Chrys, of San Antonio, Texas; a sister, Betty Anderson of State Line; a brother, Ivan Mumma of McConnellsburg, Pa.; 11 grandchildren and 10 great-grandchildren.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a daughter, Dr. B. Jean Walker; two sisters, Georgia Tosten and Beulah Strait; and a brother, Veryle Mumma.

Funeral services will be conducted at 10 a.m. on Saturday, Nov. 19, 2011, at Rest Haven Funeral Chapel, 1601 Pennsylvania Ave., Hagerstown, with the Rev. Ron Faith officiating. Interment will follow in Rest Haven Cemetery.

The family will receive friends on Friday at 5 to 7 p.m. at the funeral home.
