Lillian "Stutzie" Marquiss Craig, 92, of Hagerstown, Md., passed away in the early hours of Thursday, Aug. 23, 2012, at her home from natural causes.

Born Aug. 26, 1919, in Washington, D.C., she was the daughter of Henry Ernest and Tina Marquiss.

God led her to the love of her life, Ollen, in 1947. Serving her husband and her family was her joy.

She was active in the early years at Craig Paving. She had also worked at Masser Motor Express.

Stutzie was a gifted musician, studying voice at Peabody's Conservatory of music. She wrote numerous hymns and sang on inspirational recordings. She was music director and the organist at The Church of God (Universal), using her talents locally and throughout the world. In her 80s, she taught a music class at Truth Christian Academy.

She is survived by her loving husband, Ollen O. Craig; sons, Roger Craig and his wife, Kay, Roland Craig and his wife, Beverly, Richard Craig and his wife, Janet, Roy Craig and his wife, Susan, and Ralph Craig and his wife, Vera; daughters, Ellen Tyler and her husband, Greg, Evelyn Monnett and her husband, Dick, and her "right arm" Mary; grandchildren, Robert, Candice Craig, Dresden, Trenton, Collin, Molly Craig, Jennifer Tyler Tracey, Lillian "Esther" Tyler Renner, Gregory Tyler, Melody Tyler Wilson, Angela Tyler Butler, Patrick Tyler, Alex Tyler, Mercedes Craig Johnson, Richard "Ben", Alaina, Roxanna Craig, David Monnett, Mark Monnett, Nicky Monnett Draheim, Wayne Craig, Ollen, Elizabeth Craig, David Craig, Aksana Craig Mitityuk, Dmitriy Craig, Eddie and Ginger Crim; and several great- and great-great-grandchildren.

Stutzie was "mommy" to many others throughout the years.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her sons, Russell and Raymond; her daughter, Elaine; granddaughter, Joyce Crim; and siblings, Henry, Jim Marquiss, Virginia Koeber and Pearl Masser.

Services will be Monday, Aug. 27, 2012, at 11 a.m. at Church of God Universal, Point Salem Road, Hagerstown, with Pastor Alvin Craig officiating.

The family will receive friends Sunday, Aug. 26, 2012, from 7 to 9 p.m. at Rest Haven Funeral Home.
