Lois Brandt Brand

Edna "Lois" (Brandt) Brand of Hagerstown, formerly of Chambersburg, Pa., passed away Monday, Feb. 14, 2011, at her home.

Born March 12, 1930, in Huntington County, Pa., she was the fourth daughter of Foster William and Edna (Bard) Brandt.

In addition to her parents, Lois was preceded in death by two sisters, Thelma Goldsberry of California and Jean Hoelze of Idaho.

She was employed by Old Orchard Grocery in the meat department until her retirement. She was previously employed for many years by the Acme Markets of Chambersburg.

Lois was a member of the Methodist Church family serving in United Methodist Women, Vacation Bible School, Nursery and as a Scout Leader. She was a very giving person of both her time and energy. Lois sewed, crocheted and knitted for family and friends all of her life.

After retirement, she enjoyed filling requests for her special dinners, soups and buckeyes. Her most loved pastime was knitting caps for the hospital newborns.

Lois is survived by one sister, Evelyn Secrest of Mount Union, Pa.; daughter, Carol Behan and favorite son-in-law, Richard; son, Michael Brand and wife, Cinda; granddaughter, Robin (Jones) Pitsnogle and husband, Marty; grandson, Brian Jones; great-grandchildren, Cole and Carly Pitsnogle; and many nieces, nephews and dear friends.

A funeral service will be conducted at 1 p.m. Saturday, Feb. 19, 2011, at Rest Haven Funeral Chapel, 1601 Pennsylvania Ave., Hagerstown. Interment will follow in Rest Haven Cemetery, with the Rev. Richard Jewell officiating. The family will receive friends one hour prior to service at the funeral home
