Lou Anna Flegal

February 23, 1925 — November 30, 2012

Lou Anna Seamone Flegal, 87, entered peacefully into her final rest with our Lord and Savior on Friday, Nov. 30, 2012.

Mrs. Flegal was a very brave and compassionate woman. She was one of a kind!

Mrs. Flegal was born Feb. 23, 1925, in Philippi, W.Va.

She was a cheerleader and an excellent student in high school. Mrs. Flegal went to New York City after graduation to tap dance, but ended up in Hagerstown, Md., where her older sister had settled, and went to work at Fairchild Aircraft. She worked at numerous clerical jobs throughout her life, but ended with the one she loved the most. This was in the executive dining room at Fairchild as a hostess and bookkeeper. One of her great loves was fashion, and she was always dressed very stylishly.

She met her husband of 65 years in November 1945, and they married in February 1946. For the last three years, they resided in North Carolina with their only child.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her loving husband, Jerry, who passed away Oct. 27, 2011; a sister, Virginia Grove; and a brother, Douglas Seamone.

She leaves to mourn her memory a daughter, Carole Wissinger (Bruce) of Mooresville, N.C.; a grandson, whom she adored, Michael Davies (Corisa) of New Market, Md.; three great-granddaughters, Myah, Gemma and Brooklyn Davies; a sister, Pauline Poffenberger of Williamsport, Md.; half sister, Marie Compnell of West Point, Iowa; three brothers, Woodrow Seamone of Lewes, Del., Richard Seamone of Lincoln Park, Mich., and John Seamone of Salem, W.Va.; and many nieces and nephews.

Mrs. Flegal donated her body to Wake Forest School of Medicine in Winston-Salem, N.C., and a memorial service will be conducted at 11 a.m. Saturday, Dec. 22, at Rest Haven Funeral Chapel, 1601 Pennsylvania Ave., Hagerstown, with the Rev. George Limmer officiating. The family will greet friends and family at the funeral chapel one hour before the service.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests that memorials be considered for American Diabetes Association, P.O. Box 11454, Alexandria, VA 22312; or Alzheimerâ??s Association, Western Carolina Chapter, 3800 Shamrock Drive, Brancomb No. 10, Charlotte, NC 28215-3220.
