Lyubov Sholomitskaya

Lyubov Sholomitskaya, 82, of Hagerstown, Md., passed away in the late hours of Friday, March 11, 2022, at her home from natural causes.
Born Sept. 15, 1939, in Volinskaya, Ukraine, she was the daughter of Vasiliy and Barbara Shmat.
God led her to marry the love of her life, Fedor, in 1962. After being married, she moved to Belarus and started a family. Serving her husband and her family was her happiness and joy. She worked very hard in those years living in Belarus. Not only at home but also working extra jobs to help provide for things her family needed that weren’t attainable with only her husband’s salary. In 1999, she and Fedor moved to the U.S., along with a daughter and son and two grandchildren. Her other two children had moved to the U.S. with their families a couple of years earlier. She loved the Lord, and spent many hours on her knees in prayer for her family and others in need. She was the “911” for her family because they all knew she was connected to heaven and her children relied on her prayers to get them through many difficult situations. Her wonderful sense of humor kept her young at heart up to the very end.
She is survived by her loving husband, Fedor Sholomitskiy; sons, Peter Sholomitskiy and his wife, Sveta, Vladimir Sholomitskiy and his wife, Yelena; daughters, Vera Craig and her husband, Ralph, Ludmilla Krivetskiy and her husband, Leonid; grandchildren, Igor Sholomitskiy, Liana Kushnir, Dmitriy Craig, Aksana Mitityuk, Veronika Kotovich, Zhanna Umanov, Olga Paly, Sofia and Samuel Krivetskiy, Andrew, Anna, Emma, and Jacob Sholomitskiy; and twelve great-grandchildren and one great-grandson on the way.
Lyubov (Luba) was "mama" to many others throughout the years. The name Lyubov is the Russian word for “love”. And that is exactly what she was. She was love and she was loved! Not just by her family alone, but by everyone who crossed her pathway. Only heaven will reveal how many lives were influenced by her godly example.
Services will be on Monday, March 14, 2022 at 7:00 P.M. at The Way of Salvation Church at 1515 Dual Highway in Hagerstown, with Pastor Michael Kirylka officiating.
The family will receive friends at the Church on Monday at 6:00 P.M. until the time of the service.
Day and time of the interment in Rest Haven Cemetery will be announced at the service on Monday.
Rest Haven Funeral Home, Hagerstown is assisting the family with the arrangements.
