Margaret V. Sheppard

Margaret Virginia (Walls) Sheppard, 89, of Hagerstown passed away, Saturday, January 5, 2019, at home, surrounded by family, after a courageous battle with cancer.
Born October 30, 1929 in Clear Spring, Maryland she was the daughter of the late, Alston and Bonita (Colbert) Walls. In addition to her parents she also was preceded in death by her loving husband of 43 years, Nelson Morgan Sheppard, Sr.; a daughter, Linda Kay Sheppard; a grandson, Clayton Lynn Stoner; a brother, William "Billy" Walls; three sisters, Wilma "Sissy" Smith, Betty Barger and Shirley Knode.
All of her life was spent as a devoted mother, wife, grandmother and great grandmother. Later in life she worked at Walmart for 26 years where she met some very special, enduring and lasting friends.
She was a very loving, caring and compassionate lady who's passion was reading and enjoyed spending time with family and friends.
She was a past member of the Order of the Eastern Star.
Mrs. Sheppard is survived by two sons, Nelson Morgan (Kathy) Sheppard, Jr.,and David Craig Sheppard ; two daughters, Beverly Ann (Sheppard) Lorshbaugh and Vicky Lynn (Ron) (Sheppard) Stoner Zello; seven grandchildren, Amanda Kay (Scott) Roane, Chelsea Danielle (Jared) Long, Brian Sheppard, Lisa Mason, Mike Lorshbaugh, Jr., Stacey (Jay) Kelsh and Rodney (Amanda) Lorshbaugh; eleven great grandchildren, R.J. Roane, Aiden Cornelius, Harper Long, Morgan Mason, Grayson Kelsh, Zachary Kelsh, Princess Kelsh, Harmony Kelsh, Jenna Reese, Rodney Lorshbaugh, Jr. and Derek Lorshbaugh and many nieces and nephews.
A funeral service will be conducted on Wednesday, January 9, 2019 at 1:00 P.M. at Rest Haven Funeral Home, 1601 Pennsylvania Ave., Hagerstown.
Interment will follow in Rest Haven Cemetery.
Friends will be received at the funeral home on Tuesday from 6-8 P.M.
In lieu of flowers memorial donations may be made in Margaret's name to Hospice of Washington County, 747 Northern Ave., Hagerstown MD 21742.
