Marguerite Naomi Harbaugh

March 24, 1916 — August 10, 2012

Marguerite Naomi (DeWalt) Harbaugh, 96, passed away at Chambersburg Hospital, Aug. 10, 2012. She was formerly of Waynesboro, Pa., and most recently residing at ManorCare Nursing Home, Chambersburg, Pa.

Born March 24, 1916, in Valentine, Neb., she was the daughter of the late Webster Franklin DeWalt and Pearl Lucetta Hummel DeWalt.

Marguerite worked at Fairchild Aircraft and the Pennsylvania Department of Forest and Water.

Marguerite was a longtime member of the Brethren Church in Waynesboro.

She was active in the following organizations in Waynesboro: past president of the American Legion Auxiliary, past president of the Business Professional Womenâ??s Club, past president of the Democrat Club and past president of the YMCA Auxiliary.

She was also the past president of the Harbaugh Reunion and secretary of the Riley Reunion, and a member of World War I Auxiliary, General Reno Barracks and American Legion 8 & 40.

Marguerite is survived by two sons, Ronald Harbaugh and wife, Madeline, of Waynesboro, and Webster Harbaugh and wife, Betsy, of Hagerstown, Md.; one daughter, Gail Smith and husband, Kenny, of Shippensburg, Pa.; seven grandchildren; and eight great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her husband of 50 years, Ivan Park Harbaugh, who passed away Dec. 12, 1985; one stepdaughter, Margaret Elizabeth Olson; three brothers, Webster, John and Robert DeWalt; and one sister, Jean Dunham of Oakland, Md.

A memorial service will be conducted Thursday, Aug. 16, 2012, at 11 a.m. at Waynesboro Church of the Brethren, 117 S. Church St., Waynesboro, with the Rev. Jesse Miles officiating.

Burial will be private and held at the convenience of the family.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made in Margueriteâ??s name to the Church of the Brethren, 117 S. Church St., Waynesboro, PA 17268.
