Marie H. Lehman, a longtime resident of Fountain Head, Hagerstown, passed away Thursday, Aug. 9, 2012, at Coffman Nursing Home, Hagerstown.

Born in Pennsylvania, she was the daughter of the late Nathan M. and Mary Stine Hose.

She is survived by her son, John W. Lehman of Portland, Maine; a daughter, Nancy L. Lehman at home; and nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her husbands, Roscoe E. Lehman and Harry C. Foster; three brothers, Nathan, Thomas and Donald Hose; and a sister, Janet Louise Fraley.

She attended schools in Waynesboro, Pa., and Washington, D.C. She attended Hagerstown Business College and the Realtors Institute.

She was employed by Fairchild Aviation Corp. and was the first member to be selected to play for the Cargotte basketball team.

Active in civic affairs, she was a past member of the United Service Organization, Washington County Hospital Auxiliary, Womenâ??s Club, Chamber of Commerce Government Affairs Committee, was president of Fountaindale PTA, a director of Washington County Home Builders Association and appointed member of the Impact Fee Study Group by the Washington County Commissioners.

She entered the real estate profession in 1959, and opened her own office in 1967, expanding into Pennsylvania and West Virginia. She merged with Long and Foster Realtors of Fairfax, Va., in 1984.

She was a member of the Hagerstown Associates of Realtors, Maryland State Associates of Realtors and the National Association. She was a four-time elected president of the Hagerstown Board of Realtors and recipient of many awards, including Younkers Award for professionalism, the Distinguished Service Award, RAP award given to Realtors active in political affairs, and was twice named Realtor of the Year.

She was a former member of the Fountain Head Country Club; a former member and past president of the Garden Club; a three-time elected president of the Womenâ??s Golf Association; and a member of the American Legion Auxiliary.

She was a member of Trinity Lutheran Church and former member of the Investment Committee, on which she served for many years.

Her wishes were to have her body given to science.

Burial will be private and at the convenience of the family at a later date.
