Marshall Lee Tyler

January 16, 1937 — October 4, 2012

Marshall Lee Tyler, 75, of 1523 Kensington Drive in Hagerstown, passed away Thursday, Oct. 4, 2012, at his home.

Born Jan. 16, 1937, in Lexington, Va., he was the son of the late Emmett Tyler, Lucy Irene (Smith) Tyler Bowman and Percy Bowman.

Mr. Tyler retired from the U.S. government's Defense Mapping Agency.

He was a member of Colesville United Methodist Church in Colesville, Md.

He was a 1956 graduate of Sherwood High School in Olney, Md.

He enjoyed painting and decorating birdhouses and Santas.

He is survived by his loving wife of 31 years, Barbara (Cramer) Tyler; three children, David W. Tyler Sr. (Mary), Deborah Tyler-Runkles (Michael) and Daryl L. Tyler (Ann); four siblings, James E. Tyler (Helen), Richard A. Tyler, Catherine L. York (Ronald) and Nelson W. Tyler Sr. (Patricia); six grandchildren, David W. Tyler Jr. (Christie), Monica Bush (Robert), Tommy Plourde, Sydney Tyler, Brady Tyler and Ashley Tyler; four great-grandchildren, Morgan and Addison Tyler, and Carlie and Levi Bush; and numerous nieces and nephews.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a sister, Lethia Randle.

Special thanks to friends and neighbors of Woodlands North and Hospice of Washington County, especially Priscilla, Kari and Pastor Jim.

A memorial service will be Saturday, Oct. 20, 2012, at 2 p.m. at Rest Haven Funeral Chapel, 1601 Pennsylvania Ave., Hagerstown, with Pastor Jim Hay officiating.

The family will receive friends Saturday one hour before the service at the funeral home.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made in Marshall's name to Hospice of Washington County, 747 Northern Ave., Hagerstown, MD 21742.
