Mary Peggy Julia Arcidacono

Mary Julia "Peggy" Arcidiacono, 89, of Hagerstown, passed away, Tuesday, July 9, 2013, at the Western Maryland Hospital Center, Hagerstown.
Born July 29, 1923 in Emmitsburg, MD., she was the daughter of the late Frank and Julia M. (Topper) Fitzgerald.
Peggy retired from St. Maria Goretti High School and MCTC as a teacher.
She was a member of St. Ann Catholic Church, Hagerstown.
In addition to volunteering her time with various organizations she belonged to the Antietam DAR, and helped form the Washington County Alliance for the Mentally Ill (AMI).
She is survived by her loving husband, Thomas Arcidiacono; three children, Ted Arcidiacono, Barbara Bacon and husband Dr. Allan Bacon and Diana Arcidiacono, all of Hagerstown; three sisters, Elizabeth Garner of Emmitsburg, Jane Virbal of Pennsylvania and Josephine O'Rourke of Georgia; five grandchildren and one great-grandchild.
In addition to her parents she also was preceded in death by a son, Gary Arcidiacono; a brother, Jef Fitzgerald and two sisters, Patricia Rocks and Dorothy Coleman. .
Funeral services will be conducted on Saturday, July 13, 2013 at 11:00 A.M. at Rest Haven Funeral Chapel, 1601 Pennsylvania Ave., Hagerstown with Deacon Gary Fulmer officiating.
Interment will follow in Rest Haven Cemetery.
Friends will be received at the funeral home one hour prior to services.
In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be made in Peggy's name to Brook Lane Health Services, 13218 Brooklane Dr., Hagerstown, MD 21742.
