Maureen Lynn Decker, 51, of McConnellsburg, Pa., passed away, Thursday, September 9, 2021, at her home.
Born September 5, 1970 in Westminster, Md. she was the daughter of David L. and Deborah P. (Snyder) Stimmel of Smithsburg, Md.
Maureen was a 1988 graduate of Smithsburg High School, she received her Bachelor of Science degree from Hood College, Frederick, Md. and her Masters degree in Education from the University of Oklahoma.
She was employed as a lab technician at Fort Detrick, Frederick, Md. and previously as a behavioral specialist for the Washington County Board of Education (South High).
Maureen was a member of Bethel United Methodist Church, Chewsville, Md. She enjoyed reading, writing, painting, cross stitching and singing karaoke. She loved animals especially cats.
In addition to her parents she also is survived by her two children, Zoe E. Decker and Ian C. Decker, both of Chambersburg, Pa.; her fiance, Brian W. Plume; two sisters, Roni A. McNairn and husband, Duane of Hagerstown and Robin L. Souders and husband, Bill of Warfordsburg, Pa.; her former husband, Jon Decker of Chambersburg; several nieces and nephews and the light of her life, one of her dogs, Chloe.
Funeral services will be conducted on Thursday, September 16, 2021, at 11:00 A.M. at Rest Haven Funeral Home, 1601 Pennsylvania Ave., Hagerstown.
Burial will follow in Rest Haven Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be made to the Humane Society or to a Mental Health Awareness Society of one's choice.
