Mearl L. Buck Embly
April 14, 1939 — October 26, 2017
Mearl Leroy "Buck" Embly, Jr., 78, of Hagerstown, passed into eternal peace on Thursday, October 26, 2017.
Born in Hagerstown on April 14, 1939, he was the son of the late Savilla Gayle Truett and Mearl Leroy Embly, Sr.
He was also preceded in death by his wife, Diane Marie (Blickenstaff) Embly, and a grandson, Wesley Palmer.
He was a member of Grace United Methodist Church, but more recently enjoyed attending the service of Tuscarora Mennonite Night Church.
He is survived by two daughters, Donna McCoy and her husband Tim of Hagerstown, and Lisa Palmer and her husband Kevin of Keedysville; one son, Timothy Embly and his wife Teresinha of Knoxville, TN.; two sisters, Mary Embly of Columbus, OH. and Bertha Swensen of Hyde Park, UT.; six grandchildren, Victoria, Gary, and Dustin, of Hagerstown, and Amanda of Hedgesville; and eight great-grandchildren.
After graduating South Hagerstown High School, he served proudly in the U.S. Navy, assigned to the USS Galveston. Buck was employed by and traveled extensively for Pangborn, Carborundum, and eventually retired from ABB Environmental as a Senior Field Service Representative.
Buck had a fond love for his family and a passion for corvettes, hunting, outdoors and civil war history. He enjoyed and appreciated the love, care & comfort of the staff and residents of Somerford Home, Hospice and Williamsport Retirement Village.
Family and friends will begin gathering at 12 noon prior to the funeral service scheduled for 1pm on Saturday, November 4, 2017, at Rest Haven Funeral Home, Inc., 1601 Pennsylvania Ave., Hagerstown, MD.
Interment will follow in Rest Haven Cemetery.
Memorial donations may be made in Mearl's name to Tuscarora Mennonite Night Church Building Fund, 2319 Shepherdstown Rd., Martinsburg, WV 25404.
