Nancy Huff Keplinger

Nancy Huff Keplinger, 73, of Hagerstown, passed away on Thursday, December 3, 2015 at her home while surrounded by her loving family.

Born August 7, 1942 in Hagerstown, she was the daughter of the late Louring F. and Mabel E. (Morningstar) Huff.

Nancy graduated from North Hagerstown High School in 1960. She was employed by Mack Trucks, Inc. and retired in 2000 with 31 years of service. She was a member of Emmanuel United Methodist Church, Beaver Creek Country Club, and the Hagerstown YMCA.

Nancy was an avid sports fan who enjoyed rooting for the Maryland Terrapins and Washington Redskins. Her passions included bike riding, golf, and racquetball. In 1974 she was the Women's Champion of the JFK 50 Mile Ultramarathon and went on to become an early member of the 250 Mile Club.

Some of her life's biggest thrills included rounds of golf at Pebble Beach, vacationing in Hawaii, and playing baseball with Yankees legends Mickey Mantle and Whitey Ford. Nancy especially loved flounder fishing, kayaking, and digging for clams with her beloved granddaughters in Chincoteague, VA.

She is survived by her loving husband of 53 years, Paul Leroy Keplinger, Jr.; two sons, Todd Keplinger and girlfriend Cheri Gibson and her son, Tyler, of Damascus; Ron Keplinger and wife Tera of Smithsburg; two grandchildren, Kayla and Eva; a brother, Rev. John Huff and wife Sue of Waynesboro, PA; a sister, Lois Overdorff and husband Rev. Glenn of New Brighton, PA; and numerous nieces and nephews.

In addition to her parents, she was also preceded in death by a son, Curtis Lynn Keplinger; a brother, Robert Huff and wife Rosemary; and sister, Hilda Bartles and husband David.

A funeral service will be conducted at 1:00pm on Wednesday, December 9, 2015 at Rest Haven Funeral Chapel, 1601 Pennsylvania Ave., Hagerstown, with Rev. Randy Reid officiating. Interment will follow in Rest Haven Cemetery. Friends will be received from 7-9pm on Tuesday at the funeral home.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made in Nancy's name to the March of Dimes, Maryland/DC Chapter, 2110 Washington Blvd., Suite 325, Arlington, VA 22204 or to Chincoteague National Wildlife Refuge, P.O. Box 62, Chincoteague Island, VA 23336.
