Nellie May Dowler, 83, of Hagerstown, passed away, Saturday, July 13, 2013 at Meritus Medical Center, Hagerstown.
Born October 28, 1929 in Hagerstown she was the daughter of the late Thomas and Mary Helen (Penner) Ruck.
Mrs. Dowler was a homemaker and a member of St. Matthew's United Methodist Church, Hagerstown. She volunteered her time at the VA Medical Center in Martinsburg through the American Red Cross.
She is survived by four children, Robin Detwiler and husband Dave, of Hagerstown, Dickie Dowler and wife Lynn of Chambersburg, Dwayne Dowler and fiancé Jackie of Hagerstown and Maria Dowler of Hagerstown; eight grandchildren, Nathan Maietta and fiancé Angel, Shauna Maietta and fiancé Ben, Jeremy Dowler and partner Denise, Gregory Dowler and wife Courtney, Justin Dowler, Korey Dowler, Joshua Dowler and Nikki Everett; eleven great grandchildren; daughter in law, Missy Dowler and former daughter in law, Judy Ebersole.
In addition to her parents she also was preceded in death by her loving husband, Richard G. Dowler; a son, Jody Dowler; five brothers and seven sisters.
Funeral services will be conducted on Tuesday, July 16, 2013 at 11:00 A.M. at Rest Haven Funeral Chapel, 1601 Pennsylvania Ave., Hagerstown, with the Rev. Mark C. Mooney officiating. Interment will follow in Rest Haven Cemetery.
Friends will be received at the funeral home on Tuesday, one hour prior to services.
