Peter Daly

Peter Daly, 74, of Hagerstown, passed away, Saturday, April 6, 2013 at his home.
Born January 2, 1939, in Far Rockaway, New York, he was the son of the late John and Marie (Munzell) Daly.
Mr. Daly was a eight year veteran of the U.S. Air Force.
He retired from the Veterans Administration after 27 years of service, part of which he served as coordinator for developing the Cumberland Md. VA Clinic.
He was a member of the American Legion, the Improved Order of Red Men, the Red Men Riders Club and the ABATE Motorcycle Club. In addition to motorcycling he enjoyed tending his fish pond and caring for his yard. He also spent time listening to music and adapting to the computer age.
Peter is survived by his loving wife of 19 years, Karen Lee Novelli Daly; one daughter, Reesie Daly; two step daughters, Stephanie Wilkinson (Andrew) of Hagerstown and Melinda Kierzkowski (Keith) of Shippensburg, Pa.; two sisters, Claire Aversa (Marty) of Little Neck, NY and Anne Montalbano (Tony) of Switzerland, Fla.; six grandchildren and several nieces and nephews.
In addition to his parents he also was preceded in death by a brother Jack Daly and sisters, Mary Traub and Kathleen Daly.
A memorial service will be conducted on Saturday, April 13, 2013 at 1:00 P.M. at Rest Haven Funeral Chapel, 1601 Pennsylvania Ave., Hagerstown with the Rev. Mark C. Mooney officiating.
Inurnment will follow in Rest Haven Cemetery where military honors will be accorded by the Maryland National Guard Honor Guard.
Friends will be received one hour prior to the service.
In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be made in Peters name to the Humane Society of Washington County, 13011 Maugansville Rd., Hagerstown, MD 21740 or to the Hospice of Washington County, 747 Northern Ave., Hagerstown, MD 21742.
