Phyllis Lee (Hartle) Smith, 90, of Hagerstown, passed away on Monday, Oct. 15, 2012, at the Western Maryland Hospital Center.
Born Sept. 16, 1922, in Hagerstown, she was the daughter of the late Chester W. and Beulah M. (Witmer) Hartle.
She was a 1942 graduate of Hagerstown High School.
Phyllis had worked as a secretary at the Pangborn Corp. and then worked in the business offices at the Washington County Hospital.
She was a member of First Christian Church in Hagerstown and a member of the Red Hat Society. Phyllis was active in the Western Maryland Hospital Center activities.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Vernon Lee Smith.
Phyllis is survived by a son, David Lee Smith of Hagerstown; and many friends, including those at the Western Maryland Hospital Center.
A funeral service will be conducted at 11 a.m. on Thursday, Oct. 18, 2012, at First Christian Church, 1345 Potomac Ave., Hagerstown, with the Rev. Nancy Jenkins officiating.
Friends will be received on Wednesday from 5 to 7 p.m. at Rest Haven Funeral Chapel, 1601 Pennsylvania Ave., Hagerstown.
