Prather E. Tedrick

Prather E. "Buck" Tedrick, 79, passed away peacefully Aug. 19, 2010, at his home, after a long, courageous battle with cancer. Born Jan. 25, 1931, in Clear Spring, Md., he was the son of the late William C. and Rhoda B. (Hawbaker) Tedrick.

He was employed with Mack Trucks Inc. for 30 years, retiring in 1991. He was an accomplished woodworking craftsman and a master mechanic. He was an avid gardener and outdoor enthusiast.

He was a member of Grace United Methodist Church, UAW Local 171, and a past officer in several community baseball leagues, Cub Scouts and band boosters.

He is survived by his beloved wife of 53 years, Betty J. (Rogers) Tedrick; two daughters, Carol L. Tedrick of Hagerstown and Cindy L. Tedrick of Reisterstown, Md.; one son, Brian E. Tedrick, and wife Cindy of Hagerstown; one granddaughter, Jennifer L. (Tedrick) Weaver, and husband Justin of Hagerstown; one grandson, Matthew A. Tedrick, and wife Lorie of Hagerstown; one great-granddaughter, Kaylee N. Weaver; two sisters, Peg Dundus of Hagerstown, and Barbara Robinson and husband Bill of Hagerstown; one brother, Richard (Dutch) Tedrick of Falling Waters, W.Va.; and numerous nieces and nephews.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by sisters Louise, Katherine, Anna and Mary Jane; and brothers Carl, Robert and Leon.

The family will receive friends at Rest Haven Funeral Chapel on Sunday, Aug. 22, 2010, from 7 to 9 p.m. Funeral services will be Monday, Aug. 23, 2010, at 11 a.m., with the Rev. Michael Seger officiating.
