Preston Miller Kendle, Jr.

Preston Miller Kendle, Jr., 91, of Hagerstown, passed away, Wednesday, May 28, 2014 at his home.
Born May 8, 1923 in Hagerstown he was the son of the late Preston M., Sr. and Martha I. (Stine) Kendle.
Mr. Kendle was a farmer for most of his life and retired from the Southern States Co-Op in Hagerstown.
He was a US Army veteran of WW II and a 60 year member of the Dixon-Troxel Post 211 American Legion, Funkstown.
He was Protestant by faith.
Mr. Kendle loved his family and leaves behind, one son, Melford W. Kendle and wife Angie of Greencastle; one daughter, Dixie L. Smith and husband Gary of Williamsport; three grandchildren, Shannon Hose and husband Steve of Martinsburg, Holly McKenrick and husband Ted and Randy W. Kendle, all of Hagerstown; four great grandchildren, Lakyn Hose, Taylor Hose, Shayla McKenrick and Randy P. Kendle; two brothers, Ralph Kendle of Mt. Lena, Md. and Leon Kendle of Boonsboro; three sisters, Doris Roberts of Funkstown, Joanne Brining and Virginia Wills, both of Hagerstown.
In addition to his parents he also was preceded in death by his loving wife of nearly 64 years, Betty Marie (Crawford) Kendle; one son, Randy Preston Kendle; five brothers, Harry, Robert, Richard, Donald and Glenn Kendle; three sisters, Pauline Kendle, Kathryn Myers and Cora Snowberger.
Friends and family will be received on Monday, June 2, 2014 from 7-9 P.M. at Rest Haven Funeral Chapel, 1601 Pennsylvania Ave., Hagerstown.
Funeral services and burial will be private and held at the convenience of the family with Rev. Brad Selan officiating.
In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made in Preston's name to the American Heart Association, 4217 Park Place Ct., Glen Allen, VA 23060-9979
