Richard Dean McNeal

Richard Dean "Dick" McNeal, 87, of Hagerstown, passed away Friday, July 9, 2010, at Washington County Hospital.

Born Dec. 28, 1922, in Hagerstown, he was the son of the late Gaitley H. and Susan Katheryn (Zimmerman) McNeal.

He was a member of St. Mark's Lutheran Church in Hagerstown, The Quiet Birdmen (QB) of Fairchild, and Morris Frock American Legion Post 42; and a lifetime member of the NRA.

He retired in 1985 from Fairchild Industries as an aircraft mechanic.

He is survived by his loving wife of 64 years, Katheryne Pearl "Kitty" (Miller) McNeal; and two daughters, Bonnie K. Smith and husband, Gil, of Boonsboro, and Julie A. Reeder and husband, Tony, of Falling Waters, W.Va.

In addition to his parents, Dick was preceded in death by one daughter, Linda L. McNeal; and one sister, Mary Louise Yontz.

Services will be Thursday, July 15, 2010, at 11 a.m. at Rest Haven Funeral Chapel, 1601 Pennsylvania Ave., Hagerstown, with the Rev. Thomas Perry officiating. Interment will follow in Rest Haven Cemetery, where military honors will be accorded by Morris Frock American Legion Post 42 Honor Guard.

Friends will be received Wednesday from 6 to 8 p.m. at the funeral home.
