Richard Edward Main

Richard Edwin "Ed" Main of Deltona, FL, passed away on Aug. 8, 2018, after a short illness.

Born Sept. 26, 1942 in Hagerstown, to the late Mary Helen and Clarence Richard Main, Ed graduated from Allegany High School in Cumberland, became an Eagle Scout in 1957 with the Trinity Lutheran Church Troop, Hagerstown, and completed his Bachelors degree in Business Administration in 1964 from the University of Marylands Smith Business School.

After a 15-year career in personnel with the government, Ed pursued his hobby of classic and special interest cars through Coachhouse Cars in northern VA and retail sales of cars and real estate. He retired to Florida in 2004 where he enjoyed going to spring training baseball games and antique car shows. Ed enjoyed 50s music and was an avid Elvis Presley fan and collector.

He is survived by, Rosemary S. Main, his loving wife of 49 years; brother, David L. Main of Hedgesville, WV; sisters-in-law, Phyllis Sills and Barbara Sills and their families; an aunt, Jean Startzman; and cousins, Laura Graf of Westminster, Wayne Perry of Baltimore, Brenda Adams of Sykesville, Tom Startzman of New Hampshire, Bryan Startzman of Williamsport; and Linda Siverling of Williamsport.

A funeral service will be held at 11:00am on Thursday, August 16, 2018 at Rest Haven Funeral Home, 1601 Pennsylvania Ave., Hagerstown, with Pastor Greg Shook officiating. Burial will follow in Rest Haven Cemetery.

The family will receive friends from 6-8pm on Wednesday at the funeral home.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Trinity Lutheran Church, 15 Randolph Avenue, Hagerstown, Maryland 21742 or to the American Red Cross, P.O. Box 37839, Boone, IA 50037.
