Robert Daniel Vanderlyn

Robert Daniel Vanderlyn, 92, of Williamsport, MD passed away peacefully, Friday, July 10, 2020 at Doey's House.

Born on February 3, 1928 in Ellenville, NY, he was the son of the late Tracey Sheldon and Daniel Fitzgerald Vanderlyn.

Robert is proceeded in death by his colorful, loving wife of 65 years, Mary (Bettie) Vanderlyn, son Dan Vanderlyn, and infant daughter Linda Vanderlyn.

Robert served in the U.S. Navy and attended Indiana Tech University where he earned a Bachelors Degree in Engineering.

Robert retired as a civil engineer for Kimley-Horn and Associates in Cary, NC.

Robert was a founder of the Mason-Dixon Canoe Cruisers and participated for 30 years, he was a past president for the Exchange Club, an active member of a square dancing group, The Circle City Squares, the Bay Area Bounders of America, he was active in Habitat for Humanity and volunteered at the Parent Child Center.

Robert was an avid outdoorsman and camper.

He is survived by daughter and world traveler Sue Cimino, son; Barry Vanderlyn and wife Missy of Greencastle, granddaughters; Tracey Lescalleet and husband Cory, Amber Reasner and husband Chase, Five Great Grandchildren; Emma, Mason, Colson, Chloe and Keegan, Sister in Law Ann Maas and the Maas family, and several nieces, nephews and cousins.

A receiving of friends will be held Friday, July 17, 2020 from 5-7 PM at Rest Haven Funeral Home, 1601 Pennsylvania Ave., Hagerstown.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions can be made in Robert's name to Hospice of Washington County, 747 Northern Ave., Hagerstown, MD 21742.
