Robert E. Willis

December 4, 1926 — January 20, 2011

On Jan. 20, Robert "Bob" Edward Willis, 84, of 55 E. Washington St., Hagerstown, accepted the call from his Creator and left his earthly home after a short illness.

Born Dec. 4, 1926, he was the son of French Elmer and Ruth Winifred (Stotler) Willis.

Upon completion of Hagerstown High School, he worked for Fairchild Industries as a technical illustrator before enlisting in the U.S. Army during World War II.

He returned home and was a member of the first graduating class from Hagerstown Junior College. He completed his education with a master's degree in behavioral psychology from the University of Missouri and worked for the U.S. Navy in Washington, D.C., and San Diego, Calif.

In retirement, he enjoyed reading, fishing, hiking, and was an avid photographer.

He is survived by four sisters, Louise Bileci and Doris McMurtrie of Hagerstown, Virginia Frush of Williamsport, and Jean Taylor of Cypress, Texas; plus many nieces, nephews and a devoted friend, Charlotte Loveless.

Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. Wednesday, Jan. 26, 2011, at Rest Haven Funeral Chapel, 1601 Pennsylvania Ave., Hagerstown, with the Rev. Richard H. Jewell officiating. Burial will follow in Rest Haven Cemetery.

The family will receive friends one hour before the service at the funeral home.
