Robert passed away peacefully at home on Tuesday, July 3, 2018, with his family present at his bedside. He was receiving care from his family at the direction of Hospice of Washington County, Inc. at the time of his death.

Robert was born on May 16, 1926 in Frederick, MD. He was the son of the late Charlotte Haller Stull and Garland Lee Stull. He was the brother of the late Eva M. (Stull) Boger. In 1929, his family moved to Hagerstown. He lived in Hagerstown until the year 2000 when he and his wife, desiring to live near the ocean, moved to Ocean Pines, MD. They lived there for seventeen years until his return to Hagerstown in 2017.

Robert was the husband of his high school classmate and sweetheart (Hagerstown High School class of 1944) Patricia L. Kieffer. They were married on March 6, 1949 and were married for 67 years until her death in 2016.

Robert graduated in May 1944, from high school and immediately enlisted in the United States Army Air Corp (to become the United States Air Force). He would achieve the rank of S/SGT Gunner, Crew Chief P61, 418th Night Fighter Squadron in Okinawa and Japan.

Robert was employed by The Hagerstown Trust Company for 35 years. At the time of his retirement in 1989, he was Senior Executive President and Chief Operations officer of the bank. In 1965, during his tenure with the bank, he received a degree in banking from the Stonier Graduate School of Banking, Rutgers University, NJ.

During his professional career, he also served on the Board of Directors of the Boy Scouts of America and the Board of Directors of Goodwill Industries. He had a passion for the care of the elderly. He wanted to help with their care so he volunteered to serve on the Board of Directors of Coffman Nursing Home. He served for 25 years until he reached the mandatory age of retirement as dictated by their constitution. He along with his fellow volunteers set Coffman Nursing Home on a course to be one of the foremost senior care facilities and rehabilitation facilities in the Hagerstown Community.

Robert was a very active member of St. John's Evangelical Lutheran Church, Hagerstown. While a member of the church he served as council president, Sunday School teacher, confirmation class leader, a member of the men's choir, and was a member of the property and finance committees. While living in Ocean Pines, he was a member of St Peter's Lutheran Church, Ocean City, MD.

Robert is a member of the American Legion and a past member of the Hagerstown Lion's Club. While living in Hagerstown, he was a member of Friendship Lodge No. 84, AF and AM, Hagerstown Tall Cedars of Lebanon No. 95. Ali Ghan and a member of the Supreme Forest Tall Cedars of Lebanon of the United States. After moving to the Eastern Shore, he became a member of the Evergreen Lodge 153, AF & AM Berlin, MD and Boumi Temple Shrine Club of Berlin, MD.

Robert is survived by two children. A son, Dr. John H.M. Stull II and his wife Bonnie of Hagerstown, MD and a daughter Sally Stull Seibold and husband Tom of Ocean City, MD. He is also survived by four granddaughters and six great granddaughters.

Per his wishes, a graveside service will be held at Rest Haven Cemetery in Hagerstown, MD on July 7, 2018 at 10:00 am with military honors. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service in the funeral home.
