Ron 85 passed away at his home Sept. 21, 2021. He was born August 29, 1936 in Hagerstown, Md. to the late Rollan, Sr. and Violet (Taylor) Myers. He graduated Hagerstown High School in 1954. Ron earned an Accounting and Business AA degree at HJC and served as President of the Alumni Association two years. He coached in the Hagerstown Junior Basketball League and in the Halfway Senior Baseball League and Federal League Series. Ron served in the US Army, stationed in Japan, and in the Air Force reserves – serving a total of 6 years. He worked in banking 30 years until retirement in 2000.Serving his Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ, Ron served in many civic and service organizations over the years. He was a charter board member of Antietam Exchange Club; serving two years as president. Charter member of Children’s Village, 4 years as president and charter member of Animal Control Authority. He served as president for 10 years at the Washington County Regional Airport Commission. He served on the boards of Crime Solvers, Coffman Nursing Home, and served on the Washington County Chamber of Commerce. Ron served 32 years with the Association For Retarded Citizens (ARC): 8 years as president; 6 years on the state board – during which he served 2 years as state treasurer. Ron served with his wife, Nancy, for 14 years at the Crises Center of Reach of Washington County. For his volunteer accomplishments, Ron was awarded The Community Foundation of Washington County, MD People’s Choice Award of 2005. Ron’s interests were golf and traveling. He accompanied his wife on 17 trips, including 9 cruises, and many trips to Ocean City, MD. They toured Europe, The Netherlands and St Petersburg, Russia; Switzerland, Monaco, Spain, Turkey, Greece and the Greek Islands Ron is survived by his wife. Nancy C. Myers , step-son Richard (Rick) Fuller, sister Cheryl D. Shoemaker, Hagerstown and her extended family; Stephanie, Bob, and Harry Breen of Odenton, MD. By niece Susan and husband Jeff Taylor and daughters Gabby and Madison. Predeceased by sister and brother-in-law Donna and Larry Keller. Services to be held at Rest Haven Funeral Home, 1601 Pennsylvania Ave., Hagerstown on Sunday, September 26, 2021 at 3:00 P.M. with Pastor Tim Lester officiating. Interment will be private in Rest Haven Cemetery. Friends will be received at the funeral home on Sunday one hour prior to the service. In lieu of flowers please consider making a donation to Holly Place, 268 S. Potomac St., Hagerstown, MD.
