Ronald Wayne Bachtell

Mr. Ronald Wayne Bachtell, 70, formerly of Waynesboro, Pa., passed away on Monday, Oct. 3, 2016, in Flint, Mich., of natural causes.

Born July 14, 1946, in Waynesboro, he was the son of the late Richard Jesse and Ima Mae Ruth (Karn) Bachtell.

Mr. Bachtell graduated from Waynesboro Area Senior High School in 1964 and went on to serve in the U.S. Army and was employed by Landis Tool Co. until his retirement.

He enjoyed old Western movies and spending time with his grandchildren. He was also an American keepsake collector.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Deborah Susan (White) Bachtell; daughter, Laury Sue Sonnenberg; sister, Janet Shank; and brother, Dennis Bachtell.

Mr. Bachtell is survived by four children, Angela Duckworth, Ryan Karn Bachtell, Ray White and April White; eight grandchildren, Clara Michelle Delamar, Mike George Shalley, Ray White III, Meagan Elaine Sonnenberg, Hannae Rose Sonnenberg, Dezirae Carol Ann White, Maya Rayne Sowell Dallas Story Jr. and Ayden Isiah Charles VanCamp; great-grandchildren, Kassandra Delamar and Sarah Delamar; sister, Nancy (Joe) Watson; and several other relatives and friends.

Services in honor of Mr. Bachtell will be held at 1 p.m. Wednesday, Oct. 12, 2016, at Rest Haven Funeral Home, 1601 Pennsylvania Ave., Hagerstown. The family will receive friends one hour before the service, and a burial will follow in Rest Haven Cemetery.
