Ruth I. (Shrader) Rickett, 52, of Hagerstown, passed away Saturday, Nov. 27, 2010, at her home after a long, courageous battle with cancer.
Born May 4, 1958, in Hagerstown, she was the daughter of Robert C. and Betty J. (Malott) Shrader of Hagerstown.
She was a member of Evangel Baptist Church in Hagerstown.
Ruth worked at Washington County Hospital for 18 years.
She was a loving and wonderful mother and grandmother.
She is survived by her loving husband of 11 years, Kenneth E. Rickett; a daughter, Melissha B. Vaughn and fiance Tater "TATOR" Russ; two sons, Merle R. Vaughn III and Christopher M.A. Reese, all of Hagerstown; four sisters, Debra J. Rogers of Williamsport, Md., and Betty "Elizabeth" Shrader, Christie L. Pleasant and Michele M. Gladhill, all of Hagerstown; a brother, Roy A. Shrader of Hampton, Va.; five grandchildren, Alexcia I. Russ, Aaliyah M. Russ, Amiya R. Russ, Sierra K. Vaughn and Taylor B. Vaughn; nine nieces and nephews; and 10 great-nieces and great-nephews.
A funeral service will be conducted at 10 a.m. on Wednesday, Dec. 1, 2010, at Evangel Baptist Church, 17922 Broadfording Road, Hagerstown, MD 21740 with Pastor Ronald Faith officiating. Interment will follow in Rest Haven Cemetery.
The family will receive friends Tuesday from 6 to 8 p.m. at Rest Haven Funeral Chapel, 1601 Pennsylvania Ave., Hagerstown.
