Thelma Virginia Hockensmith

May 22, 1930 — June 5, 2014

Thelma (Warner) Hockensmith of Hagerstown, passed away on June 5, 2014. She was the daughter of the late Jesse and Bertha (Smith) Warner. She was the loving wife of 53 years to the late Jack Hockensmith. She was a housewife and mother, providing a loving home to her six children and many grandchildren. Her love of family, gardening, bird watching, and baseball were her pastimes.

She is survived by her sons, Denny and wife Mary of Boonsboro, Rick and wife Sharon of Hagerstown, Steve and wife Dee of Smithsburg, Tim and wife Diane of Boonsboro; her daughters, Lori Hubbell and husband Dave of Hagerstown, Brenda Mowen and husband Eric of Waynesboro; her grandchildren, Billy Hockensmith, Jason Hockensmith and wife Alyssa, Jim Keating, Jay Keating and wife Kelly, Brandon Weaver and wife Chrystal, Stacie Hart, Matt and Emily Hubbell, Adam, Jacob, Michael, Ethan Daniel and Matthew Hockensmith, Nick and Sydney Hockensmith and Jesse and Carrie Mowen; six great-grandchildren; a sister, Carolyn Delauter of Mountain View Arkansas; and many nieces and nephews.

In addition to her parents and husband, she was also preceded in death by her brothers, Glen "Bud" Warner, George Warner, Jesse Warner, John Warner and Harold "Pill" Warner; and her sisters, Hilda Brandenburg, Charlotte Wolfe, Sherry King, and Louise Johnston.

She was a lifetime member of Bethel United Methodist Church of Chewsville, MD. Memorial donations may be made to the church, Alzheimer's Org., Pleasant View Nursing Home in Mt. Airy, MD, or Seasons Hospice.

A funeral service will be held at 1:00pm on Tuesday, June 10, 2014 at Rest Haven Funeral Chapel, 1601 Pennsylvania Ave., Hagerstown. Interment will follow in Rest Haven Cemetery.

Friends will be received from 6-8pm on Monday at the funeral home.
