A brief committal service will be held graveside in Rest Haven Cemetery on Thursday, July 5, 2018 at 1:00pm. The family will receive friends for a lunch reception inside Rest Haven Funeral Home, following.





Tynisha Renee Gaines, 39, of Hagerstown, passed away on Wednesday, June 27, 2018 at Meritus Medical Center, after a terrible illness that she fought so hard. She was so strong throughout and never gave up fighting.

Born May 31, 1979 in Hagerstown, she was the daughter of Dana K. Dayley of Hagerstown and the late David E. Gaines.

Tynisha was a 1997 graduate of North Hagerstown High School. She also attended Hagerstown Community College.

She worked for the past 18 years as a dr.'s assistant at The Children's Doctor. She was also a devoted mom to her son, Tyson, who was the love of her life. She will be remembered as being very loving and caring and will be greatly missed by all who knew her.

Tynisha is also survived by her son, Tyson Anthony Petrus; her fianc, Leonard A. Petrus; many friends and family, especially Dr. Van and Dr. Masood of The Children's Doctor and all the office staff past and present. Also Mary Ann, Robin, Neysa, Amy, Monica, Jessica, Heather, Theresa and many more close friends that she dearly loved.

In addition to her father, she is also preceded in death by her maternal grandparents, Carl and Elizabeth Dayley; maternal great-grandmother, Alice P. Lambert; paternal grandparents, Arthur and Sarah Gaines; several uncles, aunts and cousins.

A funeral service will be held at 1:00pm on Tuesday, July 3, 2018 at Rest Haven Funeral Home, 1601 Pennsylvania Ave., Hagerstown.

Burial will follow in Rest Haven Cemetery.

The family will receive friends from 7-9pm on Monday at the funeral home.

A special thanks to Dr. Bazzi and his caring staff at Progressive Oncology and all the doctors and nurses as well as the staff at Meritus who were so caring and kind to her. I know they did everything possible.

Memorial contributions may be made in her name to a trust open for her son at BB&T Bank, 1800 Dual Hwy, Ste 100, Hagerstown, MD 21740 or to St. Jude's Children's Hospital, 262 Danny Thomas Pl, Memphis, TN 38105.
