Una Lee (Alger Plotner) McCarty, 89, of Hagerstown, passed away on Wednesday, October 29, 2014 at her home.
Born March 13, 1925 in Virginia, she was a daughter of the late Henry A. and Anna Virginia (Claig) Alger.
Una was a 1942 graduate of Hagerstown High School. After graduation she attended Hagerstown Business College.
Una was a member of Virginia Avenue Baptist Church, where she taught Sunday school for over 30 years. She will be remembered as a very talented artist, specializing in painting fashion designs, oil and watercolors.
She is survived by a daughter, Dixie Lee Patton of Hagerstown; a son, Gilbert Snowden Plotner, Jr. of Washington State; four grandchildren, Mark Patton of Stafford, VA, Jeff Patton of Winston Salem, NC, Debbie Plotner, Sonny Plotner both of Washington State; and five great-grandchildren, Katy and Chip both of Stafford, VA, and Alex, Jake, and Tori all of Winston Salem., NC.
Funeral services will be private and held at the convenience of the family. It was her request to donate her body to the Anatomy Gift Registry in Hanover, Maryland.
