Vera Odene Worley

Vera Odene (Keel) Worley, 87, of Hagerstown, died on Thursday, November 17, 2011 at Charlotte's Home in Boonsboro.

Born February 24, 1924 in Tracy City, Tennessee, she was the daughter of the late William and Willie Georgia (Yarworth) Keel.

Vera was a founding member of the First Baptist Church in Sharpsburg. She was an avid quilter and was on the friendship quilterâ??s guild as well as the Hagerstown Aglow Lighthouse Group for women. She will be remembered as a loving mother and grandmother by her family.

She retired after 31 years as a supervisor of supply for the U.S. Government Oceana Naval Base during the Vietnam War.

Surviving her are five children, Richard Thomas Sampson of Crownsville, MD, Mary Jane Perini of Hagerstown, Charles David Sampson of Melbourne, FL., Alice Vera Sampson-Cordle of Dahlonega, GA., Susan Pauline Littlefield of Sandy, UT; two sisters, Marguerite Lewis of Dundalk, MD., Elzada Spurgeon of Lafayette, IN.; 15 grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren.

In addition to her parents, she was also preceded in death by three brothers, Jim, Joe, and Glenn Keel.

A funeral service will be conducted at 12:00pm on Friday, November 25, 2011 at Rest Haven Funeral Chapel, 1601 Pennsylvania Ave., Hagerstown, with the Rev. Jimmy Wells officiating. Interment will be private in Druid Ridge Cemetery, in Baltimore.

Friends will be received one hour prior to the service at the funeral home.
