Virginia Irene Miller

July 25, 1929 — June 4, 2020

Virginia Irene "Tootie" "Grand Ma" Miller, 90, of Hagerstown, passed away, Thursday, June 4, 2020, at her home, surrounded by her loving family.

Born July 25, 1929 in Hagerstown she was the daughter of the late, Roy Hammond and Virginia May Snyder. In addition to her parents she also was preceded in death by husband, Maxwell W. Miller and her former husband, William Garvin.

Mrs. Miller had attended St. Mary's Catholic School and had worked for the Washington County Hospital and the Majestic Restaurant. She was the owner and operator of the "Corner Grocery" at the corner of Locust and Baltimore St.

Her hobbies included gardening, reading the Bible and holiday dinners with all her family.

Mrs. Miller is survived by two children, Paul W. Garvin (Norma) and Virginia Vance (Dick) all of Hagerstown; three grandchildren, Cathy Farmer (Darrin), Crystal Billman (Jeremy) and Matthew Garvin (Jennifer); five great grandchildren, Jennifer Farmer (Jake), Sierra Billman (Shane), Kayli Kline, Connor Garvin and Duncan Garvin.

Graveside services will be conducted on Tuesday, June 9, 2020 at 2:00 P.M. at Rest Haven Cemetery, 1601 Pennsylvania Ave., Hagerstown with Pastor Bill Divelbliss officiating.

In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be made in Virginia's name to Hospice of Washington County, 747 Northern Ave., Hagerstown, MD 21742.

The family would like to thank and give special recognition to Ravenwood Nursing Home, Dr. David Rossi and the staff of Hospice of Washington County.
